I never paid much attention to Lady Gaga, but now she is doing a tour in South America and I am in Buenos Aires I started to read about the reaction to her here in magazines and wow–that woman is quirky! I’m preparing my course materials for Get Quirky so I am very attuned to quirky in popular culture. While I was getting a rather incredible pedicure I was reading Argentine Elle. The interview opened with a comparison to Madonna, saying something along the lines of, Madonna is a pop star who created familiar worlds, and Lady Gaga creates an entirely new world and makes you enter. I think that is one definition of artistic quirkiness–creating a whole new world for you to enter. I’ve been enjoying watching her videos (catching up on a pop culture phenomenon that I basically ignored). Here’s one that is both quirky and has a quirky message.
